I need to cancel an account for a phone but the phone number and email associated to that account are no longer valid

you really don't need the phone number to port out? If you need the phone number to transfer, you cannot close the acocunt
But if you don't need the number, you will have to ask PM support agent to help to cancel the service. You can simply ask them to remove the credit card. You can submit ticket by direct message:
