Hi everyone,
I’m trying to set up unconditional call forwarding to a U.S. phone number (Google Voice / VoIP). I am currently in Canada, using a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, and have not changed devices or left the country.
Is this possible? Because it does not seem to work for me.
After I try to activate it… The code is accepted, but incoming calls do not forward. Callers hear a fast busy / beep-beep-beep and the call disconnects.
Has anyone successfully forwarded a Public Mobile number to a U.S. phone number or Google Voice?
Thanks in advance.

as said, you just need to install TextNow, then forward your PM number to TextNow.
TextNow is almost like Google Voice, an app that installs on your phone and you can receive calls anywhere in the world as long as you have Wifi or Mobile Data

Yes, I have the Canada / US / Mexico plan and a VoLTE capable phone. I travel outside of these countries.

you can upgrade to one of the currently offered Canada / US / Mexico plans. That way you'll have talk/text/data seamlessly in all 3 countries. For talk in US, you will need a newer cellphone that has VoLTE recognized. Here's a bit of reading about the subject with a devise checker at the bottom of the page....

I own a business and need my Canadian number, and of my US Google voice number to be active at all times.

the reason I said that because Fongo works everywhere in the world as long as you have data as well
but instead of Fongo, I suggest TextNow as TextNow is more reliable

Because Google Voice works anywhere in the world as long as I have data and I travel a lot.

Dunno...you'd have to try setting it up ...let us know how you make out with that.

you want to forward to Fongo then have Fongo to Google Voice?
can Fongo forward to US number? But I don't think a 2 tier forwarding will work
But Fongo is a VoIP already, you can install the app on your phone, why need to forward Fongo to Google Voice?

I figured it must have had something to do with the number being out of Canada. You can forward to Cdn numbers (TextNow)...just not out of Canada I guess.

sorry @COLLEEN_1111
call forwarding is only for Canadian phone number

I just received this response from PM Customer Service...
International call forwarding, including forwarding to U.S. numbers, is not permitted on Public Mobile. Our service only supports call forwarding to Canadian phone numbers. This is a network-level restriction, which is why you're experiencing the fast busy signal and disconnect when attempting to forward calls to a U.S. number.
Even though you've entered the forwarding information correctly using the 10-digit format, the system is blocking the forwarding because the destination number is outside of Canada. This explains why the issue has persisted despite all the troubleshooting steps you've completed.
If you need to forward your calls, you'll need to use a Canadian phone number as the forwarding destination.
