I'm trying to set up Call Forwarding. I tried the Unconditional and Variable codes on this page: https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help/articles/call-forwarding, but I got an "Invalid USSD Code!" message.
I'm using a weird phone - is that the reason? (https://www.circuitmess.com/ringo/)

Call forwarding is based on a command that is sent to the network. The setting is saved on the network end. Call forwarding setings can be adjusted from any compatible phone, assuming that the sim card for the phone number of the account is inserted.

@Daps Do I need to activate/change/disable from the same phone? Or are you just saying that I won't be able to change/disable from my current phone?

@Amiss Yes that should work. And once it's setup, you can use the sim card on any phone you want.
Just remember to use the other phone again (or a compatible one) when you want to change or disable the call forwarding.
Edited for clarity

@geopublic Oh. I thought it meant "We support USSDs, just not this time." I guess I assumed that if there's an Invalid USSD, there's a valid USSD in the world somewhere?
But I assumed it was something weird about my phone. Thanks for the background.

@Amiss USSD characters are converted into machine readable format by an application called MMI parser. For USSD codes to work on a device the device needs to support a MMI parser. That phone runs it's own OS so you need to check if it supports UUSD codes. My guess is that it doesn't.
I'll look into it, but I find it strange that it would recognize USSD codes enough to have a message that says it's sending USSD codes ("Sending USSD Code") or that USSD codes are invalid (Invalid USSD Code!), but not support them at all.
@Amiss Invalid USSD or invalid MMI code means the device does not support it.

It's not Android and I couldn't find any settings.

Just read abit about it. It's a diy phone that people can make so likely things aren't programmed as phones made by a company.
Does it run android? Or something else? Are there actual phone setting you can go into on the phone. Like time/date, mobile settings, etc or is this something that is done through a computer. You'd be looking for forwarding settings on the phone.
Most normal android phones the call forward settings are in the phone app.

That didn't work either! Same "Invalid USSD Code!" message.

@Amiss Can you run *#06# to see your IMEI? Just curious if it's all USSD codes you are having an issue with.

No quotes, just the stars, numbers and pound signs.

@Amiss Are you typing in the ' marks? I don't think you should. Try without them if you haven't already.
*21* ten-digit phone number # SEND
Pretty cool phone!

Instead of entering the codes have you tried to simply change them through your phone settings?
