Blocking Phone Numbers

I have a request and I don't know if there's an official place to put it so here it is.

Since Public Mobile allegedly cannot directly block numbers for its customers and they send their customers to the Canadian Fraud agency for assistance with that, I have a feature request that might satisfy the lot of us. Instead of blocking numbers on our phones give us the ability to block phone numbers from within our Self-Serve account. The feature would be under account or under Plan and Addons.

Yes, $100 per customer. If that's a family of 4 that's $400 plus taxes (never forget the taxes, that's another fool's game). Don't you just love those "For only $X" or "Just $X/m" signs.

Well, sure, you are paying a lot less because your carrier cut a lot of manufactured corners. They don't offer a public customer support hotline 'cause it's all "online" (they actually do have a hotline... only for emergencies though).

Talk about a playground roundabout.

The average bill has to be like $85, maybe $100 per customer... not per family, PER CUSTOMER.

You tellin' me they can't add this simple ability to help their rich customers? YIKES.

@B12 $100 per customer? Holy crap! I have 2 accounts for $30 total lol. About $12 total after all rewards are counted.

That may be so but neither Telus nor Koodo give the option to block phone numbers through Self-Serve either so therefore I guess the ability is even too expensive for those brands. Which is pretty ironic. 😂

@B12 ,

This feature would not be too helpful for those annoying spoofers, I am afraid.

Spoofers use a number for a few days and move on.

Good idea, but given that PM is budget-friendly brand, I think it's unlikely to have this feature.

Some Android phones may have this feature built in though - otherwise it's worth looking into some apps.

Blocking a number using the phone isn't quite the same as the carrier doing it because it would still allow the caller to leave a mesaage.

@computergeek541 No offence to you but I seriously doubt a feature like this, which would be VERY helpful to customers, would be THAT daunting to be overbudget.

I think it's a matter of they just don't want to do it.

I don't disagree with you. However, I'm saying a possible reason that they won't. Telus wants the Telus Mobility and Koodo Mobile brands to be preferred by customers. As such, the offerings at the more expensive brands will be Telus' focus.

I highly highly doubt that will be implemented. A similar option is available for a fee for landline users as an example where callers must enter a PIN before a call goes through. Enough people don’t even use that so for now your best bet is the manual blocking at the phone level.

This is a feature that some other carriers do offer. However, since Public Mobile is a budget brand, I wouldn't expect this feature to be offered any time soon.
