it depends, there are multiple factors that could cause the booster to have a reduced effect. but, generally yes they are reliable. the booster needs bands 2(1900mhz) & band 5(850mhz). make sure the antenna is pointed at the correct tower with both bands and not just any tower. preferably one would want it to be pointed at the closest 3g tower with band 5(850mhz)
