I want to opt out of Amber alerts.
I have a Pixel 7.
I have the "Amber alerts" NOT checked in my settings , it shows an X. ( in wireless emergency alerts).
How can this be stopped?

This government mandate is only for LTE (4G and up). So a while back I switched my cellular settings to 3G to disable these alerts after I was woken up by one.
I forgot that I switched it back and was just woken up again when West Kelowna RCMP thought it wise to tell the whole province of BC in the middle of the night that a boy is with his mother… now I'm awake and writing letters to change this nonsense.
Back to 3G before bedtime from now on.

the Amber Alerts are sent and we can't stop them.
added thanks to Gogle....
. The CRTC requires wireless service providers to broadcast all mandatory emergency alerts to compatible devices via LTE networks, and this system does not permit users to opt-out, even when phones are on silent or Do Not Disturb mode.
