How long before my new phone is activated? Have been waiting 4hrs now.

It should have been activated immediately, I would strongly suggest contacting Public to see what it says on their end. 🙂

I think you've been robbed. It just does not work that way.


That post was already there when I first read it.

 

Has everyone forgotten that there are some third party companies (not related to Public Mobile) that sell pre-activated SIM cards? These companies may not be endorsed by PM, but they do exist. And I am not one to endorse any of them either.

Should have already gone through. You have inserted the SIM? What provider dis you port from. There are a couple that have restrictions. Koodo prepaid.

 

Check your credit card or bank was charged. 

 

Also check with your other provider account to see if that account has been closed.

It should be noted that Public Mobile officially has 2 methods for activation:

1. In store: I believe only Walmarts currently offer this service, as most other stores and all kiosks are closed due to the pandemic.

2. At home: If you already ordered and received your new SIM card, you can activate here:

Let's not jump to conclusions. @Netrefd1 Please let us know which retailer you are referring to. Perhaps we (the community) can help identify whether this business is legit.

This is just another way people get scammed... you give them all your info and they give it to a someone who uses fraud. just remember who activated your phone and make sure you send the authorities directly to him if anything fishy happens

@Netrefd1  Did you switch from another provider? If yes, did you ask the retailer to transfer your old number? Either way you should be able to insert the PM SIM card in your phone connect to the Public Mobile network and make a call immediately

Something is wrong with that store.  Please tell us the name of that store. 

 

Your rep should ask you your info as he fill in the activation form.  He should show you a list of phone number to let to pick one.  By the end of it, you should have a working SIM card for you to test it in your phone.

@Netrefd1 Hi something doesn’t seem quite right here if you did not port a number getting a new number then it should’ve been done while you were in the store there’s should be no waiting they would’ve took your information you would’ve picked a plan and paid for it and when you left the store you would’ve had a phone that was working

So you gave them all your particulars and payment method and walked out of the store without a working phone?

You should have received an email or text (can't recall in-store method). Do you have a phone number? Maybe try the self serve account creation.

The time delay is usually to do with porting or transferring your number from a previous provider. Straight activating should be immediate.

They said that they would activate the account.  Told me it would take approx 2hrs but nothing yet

@Netrefd1 Hi did they activate the account for you or did you just purchased a sim if so you have to sign up yourself to activate your account
