Hello
I have tried to set up data on my android using the steps provided.
The new APN wont save, even after I hit save.
Also some things on my phone are slighly different
for example, instead of MMSC proxy (on Public's instructions, I have MMSC
amd MMS proxy, two different lines, do I enter the same information on both?
Thanks
K

I believe if everything is working with pm, you should be fine.

@Karyathena What is the make and model of your phone?

Also, since you are porting a number over from another provider, have you verified that the number was already deactivated on the other provider's network? Do you still have service for that phone number on your old SIM card?
Once my number was deactivated by my old provider, I inserted my Public Mobile SIM and it automatically configured the new APN settings for me. My phone also doesn't let me save different APN settings.

I assume you're following this guide? I'm not sure if it's a mistake in the guide, because I think the APN settings are supposed to have both "MMSC" and "MMS Proxy" fields as you say, not a field called "MMSC Proxy".
Try setting up your APN with:
MMSC = http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
MMS Proxy = 74.49.0.18

@KaryathenaYour APN might not save depending on which version of Android you have.. some versions eg 8 is finicky.

@KaryathenaYou can insert your SIM card anytime after you had activated your account.
