I would do it through the app, no issues when I did it. However try deleting your cache. 

Each referred friend you receive 1 point per billing cycle, to help reduce cost of bill for ie you would need 20 points. Anything helps 

I’d try restarting all network settings on your device and restart phone, perhaps it’s glitched
