Hi i go to Jamaica for Vacation tomorrow. Am i able to use the service of my phone over there or no?

I recently transfer my phone number to Public and in my settings on my pone it's still trying to activate it but i have done research and when you're supposed to receieve the confirmation sms i have not receive it.
