Why does my cell phone convert back to the 3 g network sometimes instead of staying of 5 g?  When it does this, I cannot use my phone, other than for calling.

I have paid 3 different times for US roaming and each time I've been in the U.S., my phone won't work.  Any suggestions as to why?
