What cellphone do you have?

What cell phone did you choose & why?

I have the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+. My wife lost her phone so I gave her my old phone, then bought this one for myself. It was on sale & heavily discounted as it's a refurbished model. Working well so far. I wanted a phablet, essentially. Larger screen.

I still have an iPhone SE (first generation). Just about to replace the battery on it, but otherwise still going strong!

Yeah it was a beast. They called it the Motorola brick phone.

I don't have any recollection on plans back in the day. I remember they called it airtime not just minutes. I remember the evenings/weekends (which is still a thing..jeez). 'Course there was no data. But I've been with Telus since then. Never strayed. It was the same collusion with the big three then as it is today iirc. The little brands were consumed by them and became the lower tier offerings that we have today...or just mysteriously disappeared.

@Anonymous that was your first phone lol. I was still too young to hold one of those at the time. what were the plans like at the time?

No. It would not have the proper frequencies supported here let alone that it ran on CDMA which is obsolete now 🙂

Kidding aside...that was my first phone. My first smartphone was will13am's (not actual) P500. I'm like...you can do hotspot off here using cell data? Sign me up. Years later that was the phone I dabbled with ROM's on. Then I wrecked the SIM slot. Alas.

My 1st several cell phones were all work phones. Starting in 2000 with an old heavy Motorola phone that occasionally turned off without warning, which was a problem when on call at work, so it was replaced in late 2000 with a much smaller Nokia phone (with the Snake game). Then replaced with a similar but newer model Nokia phone. Then back to Motorola with a flip phone with an annoying pullout antenna that broke due to flimsy design. Then a Kyocera phone - anyone heard of that? Was similar to those early 2000s Nokia phones.

Then a few more flip phones (Motorola, Samsung...) before I finally started buying my own device which started with a Nokia Windows Phone, Note 3, ASUS ZenFone 3, OnePlus 6T, & finally my current phone, a Note 10+.

I could've used an iPhone from work for free but it would've driven me crazy for several reasons & I likely would've bought my own Android device anyway for personal use, so it made sense to use the company SIM card in my own device. Win-win for me & the company. Until I got laid off. Now I use PM under my own name with the Note 10+.

@will13am my very first cell phine was in 2003 and was a samsung flip phone silver with a camera. LOL I thought it was amazing that I could send an email with it. Type each number 3x to spell one word lol.

I have the Huawei P30 Pro  now. Its been a good phone I bought it for the camera at the time and for the 128Gb of memory. I had a Samsung Galaxy S7 before which I still have in my dresser.

My first android phone was when android had less than 50k Apps. I bought the samsung galaxy. No S just galaxy. Esentially was the first galaxy phone. I dropped it in a cup of coffee after 6 months lol.

My first GSM phone was a Samsung flip phone as well.  Then I switched to the Sony ubiquitous w810i.  These have all been traded in over the years.  The oldest phone I have today in the personal museum is the LG optimus one P500.

All these flip phones makes me think of breaking bad.

I have a samsung galaxy A3 bought new from foreign electronics in Vancouver. Dual sim international (UAE) version. $400+ tax. The only real issue i have with it is the storage  (16gb) so i have to back up my photos regularily and be choosy with my apps....i would love to get rid of all the crap i never use. Game launcher, Game optimizing service, Google play services for AR? LinkedIn, Papergarden? Samsung checkout, Cue, Experience Home and Service? Members? Pass, Pay, Pay Framework and Workspace. I dont even know what half of them do?

My back up phone is my Alcatel OneTouch bought in 2014 new from london drugs for $70+tax after telus agreed to give me a $10 credit ×12 months off my bill. Still works great and battery lasts at least a week on stand by. Only the bf uses it as a back up....just got it back yesterday as someone found his phone that he lost on his birthday 6 days ago.....

We were cleaning out the storage this evening, and to my surprise I found a diamond in the rough hiding inside a dusty old tote! she's a little beat up, but still alive and kicking. brings back a lot of fond memories playing countless hours of  "snake" all through the weee night. ahhh good times!

Back in the day when the Mobile Shop had their generous trade in deals, this would have been worth $50 as long as it had a clean IMEI.

I even trade-in non-SIM card CDMA phones.  My TMS mobilist just made up a IMEI number by padding zeros from the CDMA id number.  I will ask them whether TMS still offer 50k points for trade-in next time when I shop at RCSS..

@Kevin89 Yeah. S9/S8 And S10/S20 are a lot different. I feel like every 2 years something crazy changes. S10 to S20 wasn't much of a change. They tweaked the design a bit and updated the internal hardware. Everything elese is the same. The s30 will be a whole lot different

I am glad that you are enjoying it.

I used S9+ before, and S20+ is much better in my opinion.

When my wife lost her phone, I gave her my old  phone, a OnePlus 6T. Great phone for taking pictures especially indoors. I kind of miss that phone now. But the Note 10+ has its benefits too.

So, how are you likin' the phone? I too have minimal phone requirements, and up to this point, I'm quite likin' it..... of course, just about anything would be better than having to plug in my previous phone at least twice a day. 🙄
