Is a case imperative on a phone?

I'm pretty sure I know the answer, more/less subjective to one's opinion, however still curious what everyone thinks.

I got an iPhone SE and would rather not use the case I have for it since it makes it bulky while on the other hand without a case it is way easier to go kaboom.

Gorilla glass is awesome. I would use that and a slim sleek case to protect the corners and back. Or you'll likely get used to the bulky case. I have an otterbox and Buffalo Glass and I'm a phone dropper. Still looks like a million bucks on the inside after 8 years.

I usually use a case to protect the screen from getting scratched.  I see alot of people with cracked screens and scratches.
