where/how do I buy a NONsmart phone or old style phone in Windsor, ON?

I will talk only

Used one but problem free phone is OK

I am 70 yo and I'd like to become a new publicmobile.ca cusotmer, I found a plan I like but I do not want to buy a smart phone at https://publicmobile.getorchard.com/search/shop-for-phones-sorted-asc/

where/how do I become a new customer? It looks like there is no tel# to call or address to go. Or am I too old and not being able to find the basic things?

thx

I submitted that exact idea in public lab about a month ago. 🙂

as for the publicmobile.ca management, mb it's a good idea to create a step-by-step online form, app, manual, or list that a least IT or technology smart person could follow in order to become a new customer?

Just collect Qs and answers from this thread, you will make it faster, easier, possible and probably get more new customers. What could be more of a win-win than that?

First, Welcome to Public Mobile! It is nice to hear even senior citizen can get long with Public Mobile well!

For any suggestion or ideas, you can sumbit to "Public Lab" section. There are a lot of good ideas already, but you can always sumbit yours. They will look into it.

Follow this link.  I suggest getting Public Mobile to assign you a number initially.  Once the service is confirmed working, then you can do a number change where you port over from your current provider.  This 2 step process will ensure that there is no disruption in service if something goes wrong.

  • when you get your sim card you need to activate it online. To do this you need to know your SIM card number, which should be located in the packae you got from Public Mobile when you received it.
  • you need to create your account (basic info like name, address)
  • After your account is created you can pick your plan, and add funds into your account

For these two steps can be received into detail from community members if you need it, and you can also message a moderator

You can keep your current phone number, you will just need to port it over. To do this you need to know the account information from your current provider. The community can help you here too.

Keep in mind some ports may take a while to complete

@647866 public mobile is now an online only provider, meaning there is no phone support to call, only this community and e-mail help.

I would suggest @will13am s suggestion and go to a bestbuy and pick up a pre-paid phone from Koodo or Telus, so that the phone will work with PM.

You could also try amazon for some unlocked phones, or maybe a realitive has a spare phone that you could use. Just make sure that these types of phones are unlocked and will work with public mobile

Phones that are locked to Telus/Koodo are fine as well.  Given the price of non smart phones, it would make little sense to spend money on unlocking devices that are SIM locked to Bell/Rogers.

You can try your local Kijiji listing. I am sure there are people selling their phones in your area. Make sure the phone is unlocked.

Public Mobile doesn't really involve themselves in selling hardware.  Orchard is a third party seller.  I suggest going to a local Bestbuy and shopping for a Telus or Koodo prepaid phone.  You should be able to use a Public Mobile account on the phone without having to unlock the device.  If you are into online shopping, Amazon.ca sells a few unlocked flip phones.  Here is an example.

With respect to signing up for the service, there is no physical stores, call centres, it is pretty much self serve.  You will need to order a SIM card and activate it yourself.  I have included a useful link from the knowledge base to guide you through the process.

amazon has smartphones ( i know you dont want one) from a  company called BLU. They are realitvley cheap compared to the market today. I have attached a link for you. This phone is pretty simple, its unlocked and is $23.

You can also check amazon for other phones as well. Just make sure that the phone is unlocked, and will work with public mobile.
