Won't receive certain text messages

Hi,

Sometimes when people send me text messages, I never receive them. And no, I really don't think its my phone and anything hardware related. Like it doesn't happen often but its not the first time it happens and people often think I'm ignoring me. Is there an issue with the network? I read through othr posts saying that some people have the same thing happening to them. happened with someone else that's on public mobile, someone on virgin and someone on rogers.

Yes, her S7 is running Nougat. I searched online previously, but hasn't included Nougat, now I see this is likely a phone related issue. However, I believe there are others using different hardware who have also had this issue. I did send a message to the moderators and will keep everyone posted.

@ericdvan

I'm very interested in if/how you get the problem resolved.  My wife and I are both with PM, S7s running Nougat and have recently noticed the same problem.  Further we have the issue that half of MMS are not being received as well.  We too have turned off all the background/data saver features in hopes it resolves the problem.  We are both using Google Messenger, stock Android Messenger doesn't appear to make a difference.

Please keep us posted.

Ya ill keep you updated. @CS_Agent, are you guys able to check text messages that were "received" by my phone? Cause I can I know the exact times they were sent and from what phone number. This would give me an indication of whether it's software or the network.

Keep us posted @ericdvan, I've been trying to troubleshoot my wife's S7 for a couple of weeks now. I just switched her app to textra (from android messages) and adjusted the power monitor settings. The problem is that it is inconsistent like yours, so we won't know until a text is missed...

In our case, I found out she was still missing messages yesterday when I messaged her about our daughter getting hurt, when she didn't respond I knew something was up and called. I'll also contact a moderator to look into her account just in case there is something else going on.

By any chance do you have Nougat on your S7? Same question to you too, @ericdvan.

If you google "samsung galaxy s7 nougat sms" you'll see there's a lot of others on different providers having similar SMS issues.

I do in fact have android messages as my main sms. I saw looking in my device maintenance that I have a bunch of apps forcefully put to sleep when not in use and andoird messages was one of them. I changed it to unmonitored now, hopefully that stops the problem

Hi @ericdvan!

In my experience, this sort of issues were almost always resolved by changing settings or trying a 3rd party text app like Textra, Android Messages, Go SMS etc.

If your phone has settings that autokill background processes, make sure that your sms app is not getting killed off or hibernated.  If this does not apply to you, try a 3rd party app.
