@bbrumford  as others have mentioned you can download the maps you need and use them offline or purchase a data plan to use maps in live mode. Decide what works best for you. Maybe do both.🙂

You can use iPhone maps in USA without data, but if you want to get information updates like traffic and closures you need data. So you would need to purchase the the US data only add-on.

You need a data addon for the US to connect to the Internet thru Public Mobile. After that, you are good to go.
