I see the short-term add-on's for the US, but is there any way to add Unlimited US calling to a plan?? If not, any suggestions as to what to use??

I have a $34.00 CAD plan which has 50GB of data and unlimited Canada and US calling!!! Does this help?

@LA1 no problem, happy to help. 🙂

thank you so much for bringing up that point re. about switching back and only being able to with available plans at that time - I appreciate it!!

There's also the option of textnow. You can get a US based phone number, and you can call US and back to canada.

Thanks @koimr1 I didn't realize Fongo charges. Yes Hangouts Dialer is pretty tough to beat, though voice quality may or may not be an issue for some. Since it's free, it's definitely worth at least trying out to see how well it works for you (the proverbial you, not literally you lol).

@Acekiller out of curiosity, why would you stick to those over Fongo or Hangouts? Skype requires credits to call the US if I remember correctly, making it not free; Google Voice is annoying because you can only set it up while in the US. Fongo and Hangouts Dialer have neither of those issues. So, out of curiosity, what do you have against them?
Actually, unless something has changed it's $0.02/minute to call a US number from Fongo. I think for this situation Hangouts dialer is the best.
Personally I added a 200 minutes add-on when I started with PM last summer and I'm still at 0/200 usage. 🙂

@LA1, the best free calling option is google voice. Next time when visiting the US, add a google voice number to the google account and you are all set. Unlimited free incoming and outgoing calls to/from Canada/US from anywhere in Canada/US.

wrote:@LA1 As mentioned by srlawren (thx) in the above post, if you are on a plan that is currently not offered, you will not be able to change it back once the new plan kicks in. If you are in this position, i suggest you to use Talk add-on (200min $8 or 400mins $15). This will allow you to keep your current plan and you will be able to make calls to US while you are in Canada. But there it is not unlimited.
@NDesai you're welcome. Yes that's one option, or ther other is to use a data-based (VoIP) calling services such as Fongo or Hangouts dialer, both of which will give you free calling to the US. They do use up data though, so for heavy usage please make sure you're using a WiFi network or have a large amount of mobile plan data.

@LA1 BEWARE!!! @NDesai left out an important detail. I don't know what plan you are on currently, but if it is no longer offered by Public Mobile, then once you switch off of it, you will lose it forever. Many people are on promo plans or other grandfathered plans that you cannot get today, so if you fall into that category, know that there is no going back. Also, even if your current plan is still offered today, if you were to want to swtich back to it in, say, x months, and it's no longer offered at that time, you will not be able to get back on to it either. The bottom line is any time you do a plan change, you must choose from the plans that are currently available at that time.
You may want to consider other workarounds your calling the US, espeically if it may be temporary (which I'm guessing it is, given your question about changing back after a period of time). If you'd like some suggestions, let us know.

@LA1wrote:@NDesai thank you - yes, I meant calling US from Canada. I am already a customer, so how would I change my current plan??
Can this be done at any time, or at the next payment??
And, if I wanted to, could I easily change back??
sorry for all the questions.
Login to your self-serve account and click on Change Plan button located on the Overview page under Account Status. From there simply choose "Build your own plan" option and it will allow you to select the plan you want. Once you select, review what you have selected and the price for that plan. Yes, you have an option to either change it now or change it on the next renewal. And yes, you can switch back later if you don't like the plan but remember that this is a prepaid service and so you will not get your money back if you decide to revert the changes if the cycle begins.
Let us know if you have any further questions.

@LA1 Yes, you can. Simply pick "Canada-wide and to the US" talk from the custom plan builder. This is an Unlimited calling to Canada and to the US while you are in Canada.
If you are referring to unlimited US calling while you are in the US, then there is no unlimited option other than those 10 days US roaming add-ons.
