Testing reception & referral bonus question

mchammered

I had bad reception at home when I was with Telus many years ago, I am hoping the addition of the Bell towers resolved this reception issue. I want to test the signal strength with a 10 plan before committing to a $150 US calling + 6Gb 90 day plan.

But to get the referral reward do I have to sign up for the 90 day plan right away? Can I do a 10 day plan so I can test reception and then upgrade to the 90 day plan and still get the reward somehow?

@NDesai

That's not what the Rewards page says. It say you need to be on an eligible plan to get the reward, so a referrer on a 10 day plan is not eligible. The only stipulation mentioned on the referee is as long as they remain active PM customers. Since the reward (to the referrer) is $1 / 30 days, that means the minimum that the referee needs to stay is 30 days. While extremely inefficient, that could even be 3 10 day terms. But it is more likely a 10 day followed by a 30 or 90 day, and in those cases the clock should start counting with the 10 day term.

Anyway, it's moot point here as that is not what this thread is about.

Referral and refree both must be on a 30 or 90 days plan in order for referral to get rewards. 10 days plan is not eligible for rewards.

Hi Jak,

I thought up with the same work around as you suggested, I was just hoping to recycle the week old SIM vs. ordering another one.

Hopefully a PM rep can assist, otherwise I'll have to go that route.

Yes, that would be more efficient. But as both sims would be activated they would have no cost to you, (more cost to PM so maybe they will let you have the reward on a 10 - 90 or 10 - 30 combination.)

@Brooke_C, for your consideration.

Remember!!!! There is no reward for 10 days plan. That means, the referer won't probably get nothing. If you want your referer to have something for being refered you, sign up for a full 30 days plan. you won't regret it!

Looks like @mchammered is asking about the newly proposed referee reward, not the referral reward, but it is easy to miss that as the reward doesn't appear to be implemented yet. However, to address above, 10 day plans are not eligible to receive rewards, but the referrer is still eligible to receive the reward even if the referee signs up for the 10 day plan, the main point is the reward stays as long as the referee is a customer. If that is just 1 10 day plan, then yes the referrer doesn't get anything, but if they follow up with continued service, then the referer gets their reward.

@mchammered;

Note that thread is an accepted customer proposal, AFAIK it is not yet implemented (not yet available) and when implemented it could be slightly different in details. As there are no details yet, I don't think anyone can give you a definitive answer to your question, however my guess would be no as it is a 1 time add on for new customers and if you took the 10 day plan first you would no longer be a new customer...

However, there is a way around that. Do your 10 day plan (with a temporary number and not your main email address) first to test if the signal strength is good enough. If you decide that it is then order a new sim, wait for the BTS special to be announced and active the new sim on a new account then port in your number. That way you should still be a "new" customer.

I understand I can switch plans anytime, but what happens with the referral bonus?

The 1Gb data add on is what I wanted to take advantage of when it is official:

I understand that the 10 day plan is not elegible.

I want to test reception with the 10 day plan, and if it is good then switch to the 90 day plan.

However, on the activation page I enter the referral information and it seems I can only do this once and I want to take advantage of the upcoming BTS referral promotion.

I want to know if I switch from the 10 day plan to the 90 day plan within a week, if I am still eligible for the 90 day plan referral bonus.

Hello!

I would suggest you signing up for a full 30 days plan instead of 10 days. With 30 days plan, you can get unlimited talking and texting and you will be, for sure, satisfied of your choice and your test. PM is everywhere..... If you have reference, add the phone number of your referer while signing up.

I believe you are eligible for rewards at both the 30 days and 90 days plans but not the 10 day plan.

@Mary_M or @Shazia_K should be able to answer this for you.
