I've tried to complete my switch over from my previous carrier and entered all information on the website but it keeps saying my sim number is incorrect yet I have it in my phone functioning. Triple checked each time and all 19 digits are correct.

You will need to purchase a Public Mobile sim card. The number you will enter on the website is the public mobile sim card. There are various locations you can purchase a sim card unactivated (to be activated via the site) or you can go in store and they can activate it for you.

I'm not sure this is true for all Walmarts. My "local" one yes. Apparently yours. But I don't think it's universal. And it would need activating in store to get it for free. I've read here of London Drugs doing their own thing as well.
Which, now, outside of any promos, would be fine.

Edit: I'm in Vancouver Canada. I tried a WOW Modile first, but they wanted $10. Shop around for a location with a promo.
Try: Walmart, London Drugs, The Mobile Shop, Wow Mobile Boutique, and K Mobile.
