Yes, you can do it. just make sure your sim card size (it's the same size as I know) 

if you have a problem after putting a sim card on the iPhone, you should send a service ticket on how to unlock the iPhone.

In case of a size difference,  hopefully you kept the frame pieces to snap back in to. Or carefully snap the smaller part from the larger frame.
