Hello! I went on the SAMSUNG website to get a code for my samsung phone, this is what it says:
Power off the device.
Insert the alternative carrier SIM card into the device.
Power on the device.
Wait for device to display the "SIM Network unlock PIN" screen.
Enter your specific NCK code and then touch UNLOCK.
You must obtain your NCK code directly from your previous mobile provider. Samsung can not provide any NCK code.
Please help. Thank you.

This likely means already unlocked or its a Telus phone.

Whenever the device does not ask for the network unlock code is most likely because the sim card is compatible with the same network of the device's original provider or is already unlocked.
