I come to bring some good news!
So its been a shocking day for many with the recent notification re changes to the Rewards Program, again..
Well,
For those that ever wondered about the full cashback amounts we received on our credit cards when paying for your Public Mobile account each month, I just received my July statement and for the first time, I received the full 2% cash back for my payment.
I have been paying my PM bill with the same cc for 6+ years and have been only been receiving 0.50% cashback instead of the 2% that the card offers for recurring bill payments.
We all know what responses we received when we ask why does this occur.. PM is not considered pre authorized, you can cancel anytime etc..etc.
The bank would blame Public Mobile and Public Mobile says nothing they can do; it's how the merchant being Public Mobile reports the transaction.
So, since I have received 2% for July, I assume and hope this will continue for as long as I have both.
What changed this after 6+ years? The bank? Public Mobile?
It would be nice to know.
Please review your credit card statement if you have a cashback cc to see if this has happened to you also. If it hasn't, I hope it will soon. If not, as we are told, nothing we can do about it.

That's great to hear! I doubt the MCC would change for Public Mobile. Probably some financial institutions started changing which MCCs would be at which reward levels to 'keep up with changing consumer spending habits'? They seem to do that periodically.

Hmm. I justchecked and I am now getting that 2% cashback (recurring) in my Tangerine Mastercard. Same with my home Telus internet. I used to only get 0.5%.
It looks like the 2% started a few months back.
