What number did you call to get this master code? I'm experiencing the same thing you had troubles with!

I called samsung and got the Network Unlock Pin and the Master Unlock PUK from them.
Make sure you get your IMEI handy (you can find it by dialing *#06#)

I got it by going to Samsung's website and contacting Tech Support through the Live Chat feature (make sure you have your IMEI handy, they'll ask for that):
