Local Area; Sim thinks its international

Svcurtiss

My plan renewed yesterday. I have unlimited Nationwide text and long distance. My account is paid up to date. I reside in Edmonton Alberta. My number is a local, 587, number.

As of yesterday I cannot make or receive phone calls, use data, or send or receive text messages. When I try to make an outgoing call, I am told that I do not have a long distance plan. When I put my swap sim cards with my husband, his phone has the same problems with my sim card, but my phone works with his. When I disable wifi, the network asked me to login to the public mobile network. When I try to, it times out.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm due in 7 days and kinda need my phone.

All of these numbers are old. I used to call these numbers before without any problems.

@western, LD can still be within the same area code.  Is one of your numbers a new exchange within the area code?  I've had an issue before where a new local in my city number wasn't set up to work with Public Mobile's province wide calling configuration.

The moderators needed to be contacted to get it included.

Has this call worked before?  I'm sure you've tried to reboot or restart your phone.

the call was never completed. My plan includes Canada wide unlimited calling. So not sure why I was getting this msg.

My number and the recipients' number are with same area code.

@western, did your call go through, or did it just drop off?  You won't be charged for LD, or a call to an LD number if you don't have it available in your package.

If the message said "may be charged", it's just a reminder that you need to dial a 1 in front of the area code to properly place what is considered a long distance call.

If the call truly is local, is it a new(ish) number to your local calling area?  Sometimes the newer area code/local exchange combinations haven't been setup correctly.

I have the same issue. I recently converted from freedom mobile to public mobile and every time I call the local number I get msg that it's a long distance call. Any solution?

@Svcurtiss

Don't worry! that's a part of my troubleshooting process, you currently have a 90 days plan.

I've rebooted and my phone works. However, I've logged into my self serve and it shows that I've been charged $11 for a 10 day international text pass, even though I already have a 90 day pass.

That's really strange.  Testing it in a different phone was a great idea, however getting the same result leads me to believe your SIM card no longer is valid.  It's been corrupted somehow, or some other strange explaination.

I would suggest ordering a new SIM via the self-serve account.  It will take a couple of days to receive it, however I think it needs to happen.
