Hello all,
I just registered my sim card and requested my number to get ported over from Bell to PM. Just curious to when I would be able to start using my PM sim card? Would I receive an email notification?
Also, any tips to transfer contact info from my old to new sim card?
Thanks in advance

Not sure if you are still looking for input on the contact transfer...
I've never used a LG phone. However, all the Android phones I've had so far had an import/export function for contacts, usually found in the dialer settings.

@Lg85 that worked. Thanks

Please refer to the link below to set your APN settings for the Public Mobile network.

Good stuff, let us know if it works because that could definitely be useful to others. 🙂

Just noticed the contacts question - for myself, my contacts were always with Google and not saved to any SIM so they just moved over whenever I changed phones and put in my Google account. This is on Android phones.
Could that possibly be the situation too for you?
If you have an iPhone then I'm lost, I know nothing. 🙂
If are you using Android then maybe this app will help: SIM Card and Contacts Transfer
Note that I've never used that or any other SIM transfer apps, just was the first that came up when I searched the Play Store now. I also don't know if your Bell SIM still has to be active or what (which it is not now since you've ported). Again, no idea if there's anything similar with Apple stuff.

I believe the text will be sent to your Public Mobile SIM card. Regardless, you will know the port is successful as you will not receive any service from the Bell SIM card once the port is completed 🙂

Try pm sim if not working then keep using your bell once porting get completed your bell sim will stop providing services.

@Samianauman I haven't tried the PM sim card yet. My bell account is still working for now

if the text message is being sent to my number, I would be receiving it regardless which sim card I have in my phone? Ideally, I would like to keep my bell sim card in for now because it has all my contacts in it.
Thanks for the quick response and the info

Hi @bsperanz
I recently ported over from Bell last month. From my experience, it took less than 2 hours for the process to be fully completed (i.e. incoming/outgoing calls and text messaging, and LTE data working with the network). Public Mobile will be sending you a welcome text message notifying you of a successful port.
You can insert the Public Mobile sim card into your phone and see if everything (calls/text/data) is working.

Hi @bsperanz,
You should be able to use your SIM card immediately to call/text/data, however, your phone number may not be fully ported right away (you are assigned a temporary number until it is fully ported), it is a process that can range from 15 minutes up to a few hours.
Once the process is completed, you will receive a text message on your phone indicating that the porting process has been completed. If by the evening, your phone number is not completely ported over, something may have gone wrong in the port and you will need to send a message to the Moderators for help via the below link (be sure to include your account phone number, account number and pin):
