If it were up to me (sadly it isn't), all plans would include unlimited Canada-wide calling (or none) and unlimited global texting (or none).  This would make life a lot simpler.

Here we go again, the lack of basic 'local' calling isn't included in the Province-Wide plan.  Just another thing that should be changed at Public Mobile.

If a landline can handle a 'local' call without issue, so should a cellular phone.  Unfortunately, it's all about the mighty dollar, and as consumers, we have very little of that.

Province-wide could be problematic if you're that close to the border.

As a quick fix idea:

Try the lost/stolen feature that has had success kind of resetting the service. Might work for you.

@Anonymous lost/stolen fix isn't going to help this issue.

@Scott1124 honestly, living by a provincial border, your best bet is to switch to a plan with Canada-wide calling.  Unfortunately your phone will sometimes pick up signal from a tower on the other side of the provincial border.  As far as the network knows at that point, it thinks you are in the other province and therefore calling a number in your own province would be considered a long distance call (aka not included in your province-wide plan).

If you are a relatively light caller, you might consider purchasing long distance add-on minutes instead.  These would get used any time you receive a call OR make a call to your home province while your phone is connected to a tower in the neighbouring province.  If you're a heavy user, these will get used up pretty quickly and it's probably cheaper to switch to a Canada-wide talk plan.

Log in to self-serve. Plan & Add-Ons from top menu. Lost/Stolen Phone from next menu. Suspend Service button. Log out. Wait a few minutes. Log back in and back to Lost/Stolen Phone and Resume Service this time. Log out. Restart phone.
See what happens.

Long distance isn't about physical distance anymore. It's about where the number thinks its from.

Do you have the Canada-wide plan or province-wide?

If Canada then the border won't matter. It *would* matter if you were close to the US border.

What happens if you dial the 1 in front?
