I activate my new sim from the store today. I noticed there is one month free promotion ending on March 31th . Can I avail this promotion after activation?

As @darlicious have indicated, you can try registering your email on the 1 month free promo at the PM Flash Sale page:
https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/fs2020
and wait to see if the moderator will assist you with the promo.

I would immediately register the same email address you activated with for the promotion. Then wait out the 30 days and see if the 30 day credit is added to your account as per the terms and conditions of the promotion. If it is not added by the time your renewal occurs I would then contact the moderators and ask them to add it to your account.

You can nicely request this of the moderator team. (public mobile customer service)
If you activated in-store, it's regrettable the store staff didn't set you up for this prior to beginning the activation.
Here's how to ask the moderators. There are 2 methods:
Watch for their response in your Community private mailbox which will be indicated by a number on the small envelope icon to the left of your Community avatar.
