Was your phone unlocked before you changed from chart? If not it won’t recognize sim. New phones are automatically unlocked but with older ones you have to call and get it unlocked by your provider

I live outside Calgary, AB and coverage is great, no issues even inside by house

You might have to buy a prepaid plan in the US just make sure it’s not on contract and it works for Canada as well
