It is an iphone 8, but I tried putting the sim card in an unlocked Iphone 11 which is on telus network (monthly plan) and the phone shows SOS only which is leading me to suspect that the SIM card is faulty.

Thanks for your response, I have auto payment setup and all payments are up to date.
