I switched from chatr to public. I am hoping to get my old number back. How can I if possible?

My service has been cutting out frequently. And don't even talk about 5g, I have to turn it to LTE for faster service. I don't know what's going on. It's tried my sim in 2 phones that Iknow work fine with Rogers and Telus.
