Try on yours to turn off wifi and cellular data and then turn off and turn on your phone again. Start wifi, put automatic and it should work like your wife's phone.If still not working, check location settings and match as corresponding.Good luck
I had the same error on my iphone and brought in to a reapair store. They assured me it was a hardware problem. Perhaps the phone was dropped and this is a common problem. The cellphone does not recognise service nor network.
