My son and husband got the text for the 5gb bonus and I didn't. Is this a random bonus that not everyone receives?

I know someone that didn't get the promo that is on 25.00 plan. Is there a way for them to receive the message. It's his first month on the 25.00 plan and previously he was on the 40.00 plan. 

I have the same issue and hoping that there is a solution.
