The Telus mobile network

Korth
Mayor / Maire

We all know that Public Mobile is a Telus subsidiary/brand which uses the Telus network.

Telus proudly advertises itself as the "Fastest network in Canada".

A claim which seems to be supported by a few independent testing/review sites (like this one).  Telus often advertises all sorts of national, provincial, and local projects which brag about all the millions of dollars they're dumping into installing/upgrading their network hardwares.

Telus proudly advertises itself as the "Largest network in Canada".

A claim which seems to be a little dubious if not completely false.  Sure, the Telus coverage map looks impressive, but the cell towers map shows a different story, a story which describes Telus as having the dominant presence in a few provinces but being a solid Third Place across Canada overall.  It seems very gimmicky for Telus to market itself as the "largest" network because Telus-owned communications hardware can communicate with not-Telus-owned communication hardware, under that logic every Canadian wireless operator could make exactly the same claim because their communications all use exactly the same "largest" network-of-networks across Canada.

And Telus decisively takes Third Place among the Big Three in terms of raw subscriber numbers (according to this Wikipedia article, which cites CWTA/CRTC statistics).  Telus does almost secure First Place in terms of highest ARPU, but from the customer's perspective this ain't such a great thing - it suggests that (all other things being equal) Telus is almost the worst deal a customer could choose on value/economy basis.

I'm just sort of trolling for opinions and comments.  Curious about how other people interpret Telus's position among the Big Three.

@Korth, take advertising with a grain of salt.  Don't fall for the sensationalism.  If you want to see how the fastest network performs, come to my work place.

Bell and TELUS share all of their towers with each other, and they run their own separate networks from those towers. Other providers can roam on Bell or TELUS networks only in some specific areas.

TELUS used to be similar to Apple. The most expensive, but the best customer service and customer friendly policies. That is how TELUS gained so many subscribers. Nowadays they are no better than either of the other two.
