Problem Porting from Public Mobile to PC Mobile

Hi Everyone!

So, after some deliberation, I've decided to switch to PC Mobile, but for some reason, I have been unable to transfer my number to them. I called them and they said that my number couldn't be released. I know that PC Mobile and PM both use Telus for their networks, but I doubt that is the issue. I might add as well that prior to switching to PM I was with Freedom Mobile. I know that I should be able to transfer my number, and I'm entitled to it according to CRTC guidelines, and normally I would get a new number, but i've just had a whole bunch of business cards printed with it on it! Haha.

Anyways, any help from anyone with a similar experience or what not would be greatly appreciated. I have sent a private message to Moderator_Team. So hopefully they will reply soon.

Thanks.

I think that this could be an error that is popping up simply because of the computer system pretty much saying that the phone number is already active at  Telus (if it's PC Mobile postpaid that we're talking about).  Since you work in the industry, you surely know that you number can in fact be ported over to PC Mobile. I really doubt anyone at Public Mobile can help you with this.   I would contact PC Mobile customer service to get your port done (since they are the ones who have to make the request), although they're likely going to have to do some type of manual override.

@medemi68 alternate theory

Koodo requires manual intervention to port (since Public + Koodo using same system)

It maybe that PC Mobile also requires this since they are on same system

Have you asked them yet?

And also I was never asked for an account number or anything. On the PC Mobile online portal it says that the number is not eligible for transfer and to contact PC Mobile (which I did), and yeah. Here we are!

Can't think of anything else really.

Yup. Number is still in service.

@medemi68, are you saying the phone number failed the eligibility check?  That would be totally strange outcome if the account is active.

What information were you asked to provide?  Seems strange that it couldn’t be ported, as it came from Freedom....I think...

I'll also add that I made sure to use a different email so as not to confuse the system(s) in any way 🙂

Hi kav2001c,

Haha, well I actually work for The Mobile Shop, and I get an incredible deal being an employee. Haha.

Why would you want to??? (Joke! Cat LOL )

But seriously;

1- Is Public number still in service?

2- Make sure account number is correct (lots of 0s easy to miss one)

Public has no problem porting in / out I have done both many times
