I activated a new Koodo account using the same number as my Public Mobile account. I wanted to deactivate my Public Mobile account but couldn't log in. I imagine this means it was deactivated automatically, but I'd like to make sure since I'm on Autopay and I don't want to have a bad surprise next month. Can't talk to any costumer service agent to make sure, so I'm a bit worried.

@kb_mv wrote:@emmanuelleaisha I don't think you need to do anything. If PM charges you simply contact your credit card company and dispute the charge. Have your facts all lined up and correct when you call and it is very easy. No need to report the card as lost or stolen, not even a need to contact PM anymore. The CC company will handle it. On the one occasion where I disputed a charge the CC company refunded my money immediately and reversed the charges on the offending company. I never heard another thing.
I advise against this. Contacting the credit card issuer needs to be a last resort. Not only are you required to work it with a merchant that you have a business relationship with and have approved charges for before, too many chargebacks will actually cast suspicion on the card holder. Only if the merchant doesn't co-operate should a chargeback be issued.

It probably won't be an issue, but there are people you can talk to. The moderators can get any erroneous charges refund, and it would be pretty clear cut as Public Mobile woulldn't have provided any service.

If you did not remove your autopay credit card before moving to Koodo, you may create a ticket to ask moderator to remove it for you. There is a chance that PM server continues to take money out of your cc. People had reported this happened. But not often.
You can also call your cc company to report your lost your card and get a new card with a new number in couple of weeks.

@emmanuelleaisha you probably should of took auto-pay off before porting
click on the question mark chat bubble to the bottom right of your screen
type "payment refund/unknown charges"
(use the chat bubble options, then click "submit a ticket, click me" option)
*login using your community account
make sure to check your inbox(top right corner envelope icon) periodically, for a response

Like I said, it's very sporadic. No need to be scared. Just keep an eye out. If it does then you would come back to this community account and contact the moderators.

When you visit another provider's store to switch providers, they will automatically cancel your current provider when switching over. It makes the whole process so easy as you don't have to visit your old provider.

I have read very sporadic reports of people coming in here saying they got charged at their old renewal date after having ported out. So just keep a reminder going to look at your payment card a day or so after your old renewal date. It's likely fine and closed. But things happen.

@emmanuelleaisha Once your number is ported out to another carrier, your PM account is closed. That's why you can't log into it. No worries on paying again.
