Pretty much like it sounds. I know a youth who uses all their data within about 6 weeks. Obviously they have no data left until the plan renews unless they buy add ons. If I were their parent I'd like to put a self imposed data cap of 4gb every 30 days. I think it would be great for parents who manage their children's accounts.

I use the Android cell phone's data management to set a limit of 1/3 per month.  If I go over, one can dismiss it or reset the limit higher.

In Android 7 it is:  Setting, Data Usage, cellular data usage & seems to be now accessed by cog in upper right corner.

You can set a warning (I have mine at 90% of my data) & limit (or cut off by the phone).

I also use the Data Witness PM app - set it to 90 days & my plan limits & i can check regularly.

Admitedly it doesn't cut off or send you wanrings (i think) - so it's up to oneself to bother to check & to control use.

In IOS:  (Work phone - i don't fidle with) - doesn't seem to be any similar setting.

Best I can find is go into settings, cellular, & look at cellular data & presumably reset each period.

But again that's self control (& iniative to actually check)

Great ideas, I need something a parent can set on the account level without the minor being able to dismiss it.

Perhaps PM could have a system to let users know, at the end of each day, how much above/below they are in their usage for the cycle?  Simple message like this:  "Greetings, you're currently 200MB above(below) your alloted usage for this cycle, which ends September 1, 2017."

Thank you @Rockdaddy22 for sharing this idea.

As others have mentioned below, you can find third party apps and iPhone has it's own parent control features that can help control data usage.

@Jeremy_M I haven't found away to limit the data on iOS to a certain number of gb per month.
