When porting, remember to NOT close the account of the carrier that you are leaving. If you do so before the porting process is complete, porting will fail, and you will likely lose your number.

When porting is successful, your former account will be automatically deactivated.

If its active you can port the number to Public Mobile but you will need either valid PIN, account number or IMEI to complete the process either when activating or on self serve. If the number is not active you will need to get a new number.
