I was in the middle of the city and tried to make a call, the situation was an emergency, but the network told me that "Talk was not enabled" on my account. It is and my account is current. I could make calls a few hours later.
Is this a common occurrence? I don't make many voice calls.

On a properly set up account with talk as part of the plan, talk should work plain and simple.
