@diannedianne - try performing a reset of your device's network settings.

Iphone ?

If you turn your data off occasionally, then it is recommended to turn off iMessage altogether and use regular text messaging instead.

To do this, go to Settings > Messages and toggle iMessage off.

If you prefer to use iMessage, then you can perform the following steps to fix the issue:

  1. Connect to the internet using WiFi or Data.
  2. Go to Settings > Messages and toggle iMessage OFF.
  3. Turn your iPhone off completely, then turn it back on.
  4. Go back into Settings > Messages and toggle iMessage ON.
  5. Make sure “Send as SMS” is also turned ON.

Or android?

Try Disabling your Chat Features:

  1. Open Messages
  2. Tap More options > Settings > Chat features
  3. Turn Enable chat features off

Not until your old provider release your number, all the incoming calls and texts will continue to go to your old provider. You can continue to use the old provider SIM card until it stops working which is the indication that your number was released to PM.

This is very interesting lesson in regards of porting process! Thank you.

If I understand it correctly, when new PM customer requests porting of its old number, you are saying that

1. PM will set it up in a way that customer CAN call/text OUT only?

2. Old SIM can ONLY receive calls/texts?

So it is like having 2 SIMs and their functions are split - one can communicate out while the other can only receive?

Yes.  For a short period, people can dial out and send text from the new and old SIM cards.  Before the previous provider release the number to the new provider, all incoming calls and incoming texts are going to the old SIM card.  This is how it works since we were allowed to port our phone number.

Since there were lots of porting fraud to get access to banking login, providers started sending port confirmation text message to ask the owner to confirm before releasing your number to the new provider.  Uninformed public will be waiting for lone time with 2 active accounts using the same phone number.

Providers started to send number port out confirmation text message and want you to confirm that you are the one to request your number to be ported out.  Put your old SIM card in your phone and create a support ticket using the chat bubble at the lower right hand corner of this page to ask CSA to send port request to your old provider.  Make sure to reply yes when the confirmation message comes in on your old SIM card.

Welcome to PM.

@diannedianne

If you didn’t port your old number over to PM. Try powering off the phone then power it back on again.

Hi @diannedianne

are you getting new number or you did transfer old number to PM !

can you try SIM in other device.

try reset SIM, take out SIM, re-inserting SIM and power on,
try toggling airplane mode off/on,

try manually selecting network "3G only" or WCDMA only,

Did you port your number to PM?

Do you block recipients by any chance?

@diannedianne   incoming calls work?

did you port your number into PM?  If so, may i know what kind of text you are not receiving?  Can you receive text from friends?

If you cannot receive only text from banks or those 2FA text, shortcode, this is NORMAL.   After porting, those 2FA text might not work for couple days, could be as many as 3 to 7 days.  Those system generated text need times to find out your phone number is with a new carrier.  Also, Financial institution has purposely put that couple days in case of SIM fraud

You should start getting all those system generated, 2FA or short code after 1 week of porting
