Re: Service on hold

I'll be away for 4 months. Sometimes I receive text message on my pm for verification of accounts. How can I keep access to this? Is there a way to forward my number for text messages?

Hi @Paula20 you can easily do calls forwarding to a VoIP but text is hard

I would suggest to make life easy, just get the VoIP app, get a 10 digits number from them and give it to your friends to call and text you there

@Paula20

OK well now that you have had your own thread created for you my reference post makes no sense? Here it is.....

  1. You can turn off autopay and allow the account to suspend at the of your current 30 day cycle but this is your least advantageous option. Pay and reactivate by day 85 or so.
  2. If you have an account balance that exceeds your plan amount then you need to suspend via the lost/stolen feature in your account before midnight eastern on the evening of your renewal. Then on day 85 or so resume your service to pay and reactivate.
  3. Suspending via lost/stolen before midnight eastern will keep your voicemail active allowing you retrieve voicemail and any verification sent by phone calls. However your rewards will not be applied to your account. CSA contact after paying and reactivating is necessary to have the rewards applied manually.
  4. Voicemail can be accessed by calling your pm number from a different phone by calling your phone # and pressing * once connected and entering your 4 digit voicemail pin #.
  5. If you don't have an account balance or enough balance to cover your plan amount you can suspend via lost/stolen after midnight but before 2 am eastern on the day of your renewal. Once your rewards have been applied (usually by 12:15 am et) then suspend your account. Voicemail access will be lost.
  6. Switching to the $15 plan with rewards helping to cover a partial or full amount of your plan allows you to call forward your pm number to your voip number (textnow or fongo) before you leave Canada.. Now any incoming calling to your pm number will ring thru to your voip number while on wifi or mobile data (w/a local or global sim card) You can access your voip #'s voicemail for all voicemail messages.

Most important mark on your calendar day 85 of your suspension and day 89/90. Do not forget when you must unsuspend your account via lost/stolen and/or pay and reactivate your service so you don't lose your phone number and account. Do not leave reactivation to the last day leave yourself at least 2 days of leeway and plan to reactivate at the latest by day 87!! Happy travels and Stay--Safe!

@Paula20

Where is away? Check the accounts that you think you may need to get a verication code from if they offer another means to verify the account like an email or phone call and switch them to one of those methods. Or consider setting up a text forwarding app like Mighty Text. Or if you are suspending your account (see my post earlier in this thread) leave your Sim card with a trusted friend or family member and reactivate your account if the 2FA code is absolutely necessary and have them put your pm Sim card in their phone and they cam forward the verification code to you.

@Paula20- Will you be in the US? If so then you can receive texts in the US. If elsewhere then the only way is to use an app on a phone with the sim in in Canada and kept charged up and have a voip app on another phone to receive the texts. The account needs to remain active. There's no nice slick way to forward texts like there is with calling. There should be but I don't know of a provider that does that.

@Paula20    Yes there is a way to forward texts but that requires that you keep your PM service active during for the time that you are going to be away as opposed to letting it suspend by not paying but making sure to log back to make a manual payment before the 90th day of suspension (86/87th day) in order not to lose the account/number completely.   BTW, if you are going away to the states, then you can receive incoming texts without roaming add-on but will not be able to respond to those texts without the roaming add-on but this still requires your account to be active.

My understanding of this is limited as I've never actually done any call/text forwarding, however, I believe you would first need to download a voip service like TextNow or Fongo and then set up your PM number to forward calls/texts to the free voip service number.

I'm other users may be able to give you more detailed information on how to proceed with this soon.
