I just purchased 3GB of Data as an 'Add On'.
When I browse my Overview Screen it says for the 3GB of data there are 31 days left.
What does this mean? Do I have to use the 3GB within 31 days?

Thanks Phil...Since 1GB of Data lasts me almost a year, there is certainly no point in purchasing 3GB that will expire in 31 days.

data add-ons are no longer without an expiry date, they all expire in 30 days (Canadian data) or 15 days (roaming)
So, do not overbuy data addon. If you have not used any of those 3GB yet and you don't tink you need them for the next 30 days, (or you might want to have less data for the next 30 days instead), you might want to submit ticket with PM agent and tell them you bought it by mistake. They will likely reverse it. Then you can hold on and buy later when you absolutely need it , or buy smaller amount of data
