If you are unable to use the card with PM then you coudl always buy a voucher online from recharge.com and use that to top up.

Visa Gift cards are a no-go in general.

I have a prepaid Visa from Scotiabank, which I reload with funds as required, and I have been using it for over 2 years now with Public Mobile, my prepaid internet provider, Amazon purchases, etc...

I had to apply at a local Scotiabank branch to get the card, but otherwise, it was a breeze.

As it works like a visa debit that PM accepts, it should be good.

What you could do is put the funds on the card then use the card to but a credit in your PM account. If that works then you can add the card to autopay.
