If this is the first time you've done anything with the phone then sure I guess you could try the reset. But that would normally be the last thing you'd want to do. I hope you haven't used it for much of anything as backups can also be hit and miss. I very much regret doing a reset a while ago over another problem so I would not recommend it. But maybe here...

@MarieGee

try factory resetting the device and then trying the sim card.

  • open settings
  • general management
  • reset
  • factory data reset
  • reset

this erases everything on the device.

@MarieGee...

from what you're reporting, it doesn't sound like an account issue...more like a hardware issue. Either your new phone is gibbled or the PM sim is.The quickest way to determine that is to find an unlocked phone and try the sim in that phone. Alternative is to find a working PM sim, try that working sim in your phone.

yes can log into acct

sim is flush with tray

Yes, can you login to your account?

Are you sure the sim is resting nicely down into the little slot area on the tray? It shouldn't be "above" the tray at a corner or whatever. It should be basically flush with the tray.

As that dealer is reputable, he might be able to help trouble-shoot with you...just to make sure new phone is working properly.

See if he has an unlocked phone handy that you can try your PM sim in.

Hi @MarieGee ... you can open ticket with PM CS agent.  But if they confirm the sim setup is all good , then you really need to find ways to test your phone and sim card

MarieGee

@hTideFnow - neither option available at the moment

yes moved phone number from home phone

Hi @MarieGee no sim card, usually is a device or sim card problem  You can test your sim in another phone?  And you can test another simcard on this phone?

When you recently activated your new PM account...did you also port your number from previous cell network provider ?

MarieGee

@Alexandf- Rebooting the phone might work. Why are you saying it won't?

@dust2dust     My guess would be that there's a word missed by that user which can make all the difference..

@Alexandf- Rebooting the phone might work. Why are you saying it won't?

@MarieGee- From a full power off, when you turn the phone on, do any messages appear?

Try rebooting the phone or removing the SIM and back in again after couple of minutes or even a network reset.

Have you made sure your phone is unlocked and not blacklisted ?

Can you try that sim in a known unlocked phone.
