Phone don't connect to network

Hello,

I just transfered to Public Mobile and my bq Aquaris E5 (which according to the MP webpage is compatible with their network) does not connect. The SIM card works (tested in another phone) and the phone is unlocked (tested it with another sim card). Any ideas why is not working?

Thanks

Does PM not have GSM 2G, 2.5G. I have seen it here, for example:

They have that wrong for years. People tell them they're wrong but won't fix it.  You can live without LTE but phone must be 3g compatible with Public.

According to the device checker on the PM homepage your device is not compatible. It seems that your third party site is wrong in this case.

No. Only one carrier has those frequencies. And they're being phased out too.

According to a PM moderator on this thread, PM uses the following frequencies

Public Mobile works on following frequencies:

  • For 3G use (UMTS/HSPA): 850MHz/1900MHz bands
  • For 4G/LTE use: 1700MHz/2100MHz bands
  • For 4G/LTE use: 700 MHz band

According to https://www.gsmarena.com/bq_aquaris_e5s-7837.php, your phone does not support PM 3G which is used for voice call and your phone does not support any PM LTE frequencies.

@shalekash  If your sim card works in another phone and not your phone the problem is your phone. Maybe try a factory reset and see if it connects. If it still doesn't connect Thein your phone is not compatible.
