Hi,
I created a second Public Mobile account and I want to cancel my old account while also keeping my old phone number. Can this be done? Do I need to wait until the old account's plan cease to be effective? The old plan/account stops in a few days, so a speedy answer would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Public Mobile does not do triangle number swaps. Only way around it is to port the number out to a new provider, and then port it back in to the line you want it on.

To do that you would need to transfer your number to another carrier while it is still active with Public Mobile. Then you could transfer it back to PM. Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible to transfer a phone number within Public Mobile accounts.

Hey @mia9doc the only real way of keeping your number and placing it on your account can be done. However, you won't like it. You'd have to make sure the account with the number you want is active. Then, you'd have to port it to another service provider. Then, you can go into your account online and port your number over to the plan you want it on. It's a pain but I know it's been done a ton of times.

No it is not possible.
One of potential solutions is to ask agent (open a ticket) to assign you old number as soon as you close that account as number will go into pool of available numbers and anybody could select it.
Agent might be able to help you out but it all depends on agent (and will not hold my breath).

Unfortunately you can’t if you are looking at downgrading your existing plan. You need to port out to another carrier then port back.

no you cannot. this is to avoid people joining new activation plan and then move the number over
