I need a new phone, I thought Public Mobile sold them but I can't them. What do I need to know to buy a phone that works with Public Mobile?

" Go for iPhone 11 or up and thank me later "
Or iPhone 12 and up if you want 5G.
There's a list of VoLTE phones compatible with PM, scroll down this link for the list (there may be other phones that can get VoLTE, although in some cases it depends on the model.

You would need VoLTE, as already noted, for the best US roaming experience since the USA has shut down its 3G networks. Canada is expected to follow suit but there's no set date although end of 2025 is rumoured. So if you plan to keep the phone for a few years and/or visit the USA then that's a consideration.

PM is no longer selling refurbished phone as onfirmed by Community Manager.

If you like the PM CPO selection, price and the great warranty, check with your local Mobile Klinik stores or online at https://shop.mobileklinik.ca/ . Mobile Klinik is also owned by Telus and the prices are pretty much the same, with even bigger selection of CPO phones

@DavidBrock64 Mobile Klinik seems like a good option, they have refurbished phones and they offer a package to repair/replace broken screens. It looks like a good place to get higher models at discounted prices since they are used with a 1 year warranty. I haven't actually tried one of these phones but I have had one battery of my previous phones replaced then. Another option could be Costco, depending on how much you'd like to spend. The main thing is that the phone be unlocked.
I'm in the same boat right now. Looking for a new phone. Swinging back and forth between Android or iOS, new or used, flagship model or budget. Lots of choices and decisions to make...

if you have a Mobile Klinic location in your area, they sell them since public Mobile stopped carrying them.
Also, try Best Buy.

You'll want to check that it is VoLTE capable and that it also has HSPA 850/1900MHz.
