I have an unlocked Blackberry Torch 9810 cell phone. Will it work on the Public Network? .

Currently works fine on Rogers network. I ONLY use it for sending/receiving texts and the occasional phone call, NOT sending/using data. The phone works on 2G/3G but not LTE.  So my question is will it work as I've explained here (i.e. a basic phone) on the Public network?

@Luddite

My bad. I did not know that. I was doing some house cleaning. I'll be more careful from now on. Thanks.

@JoyLuck Just FYI: As you can see your image has gone missing. This will happen if you remove it from your images on file in your account. In fact, it removes the image from every post that contained the image.

You need 3g to talk with public, they don't over talk LTE.

Frequencies are umts 850 and 1900 mhz

OS10 is only needed for data.

The BlackBerry Torch 9810 will work for texting and calling only. MMS and Internet for most apps wont work with Public Mobile on classic BlackBerry os 7 and below. The MMS APN can only be configured by carrier service book, so theres no way I know of to get MMS to work. I tried myself and can confirm this the same as others have mentioned in the past.

A rare few apps may work for internet access if they can use the manually configured APN (opera was one iirc) but most depend on BIS that PM does not support.

If youre OK with those limitations, the 9810 is a great phone for talk and text.

@Gordonbleu  If your phone supports 3G bands B2 and B5 it will with Public's network without any issues.

@Gordonbleu it will work on PM for the parameters that you described. You will not get emergency alerts or willnot be able to surf when in LTE only areas.

If it worked von Rogers then it should work on PM.  PM uses Telus and Bell towers but throttles the speed to 3G.  Checked willmyphonework.net and it is compatible on PM 3G.
