Hi,

Will a Huawei E8372h-153 work on the PM LTE network?

Thanks,

Andrew

Definitely agree, Band 7 is helpful but you should look for a device with at least Band 4 (AWS) LTE, as it's the "core" band used throughout the country.  Band 7 is available in some urban areas but not all, so with only band 7, it depends where you are but you're unlikely to get a consistent signal everywhere you frequent.

"Some international grey market devices may only be able to support hardware connection to some radio frequencies and not others. In these cases, the phone won’t work in the areas with incompatible frequencies."

Looks like its missing almost all the network frequencies. It only has 1 of 8 compatible frequencies. I suggest finding another device with more compatibility. Will probably cause you a lot of connectivity issues.

Based on the manufactures manual E8372h-153 support:
 LTE FDD: Band1(2100 MHz)/Band3(1800 MHz)/Band7(2600 MHz)/Band8(900 MHz)/Band20(800 MHz)
 DC-HSPA+/HSPA+/HSPA/UMTS: Band1(2100 MHz)/Band8(900 MHz)
 EDGE/GPRS/GSM: 850 MHz/900 MHz/1800 MHz/1900 MHz

The E8372 supports the following standards:
 Long Term Evolution (LTE)
 Dual Cell High-speed Packet Access Plus (DC-HSPA+)
 High-speed Packet Access Plus (HSPA+)
 High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA)
 High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA)
 Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS)
 Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution (EDGE)
 General Packet Radio Service (GPRS)
 Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM)
 Wireless Local Area Network as WiFi AP(WLAN)

Public Mobile works on following frequencies:

  • For 3G use (UMTS/HSPA): 850MHz/1900MHz bands
  • For 4G/LTE use: 1700MHz/2100MHz bands
  • For 4G/LTE use: 700 MHz band

Which means most of the 3G,4G HSPA/ LTE phones that are compatible with these frequencies will work on Public Mobile. If your phone is locked to specific carrier, you’ll have to get it unlocked.

Phones compatible with Telus, Koodo, Bell, Virgin will work on Public Mobile network. All 3G, 4G phones from Rogers, Fido and ChatR are compatible and will work on the Public Mobile network.

It looks like it supports some bands but not all. Will that be an issue?

As long as it have requency of public mobile. It would work.

Looks like the 3G won't be working (UMTS/HSPA)
4G / LTE on the -153 is missing the 700/1700 but has 2100mhz.

Its missing 7 of 8 possible frequencies, if the public mobile get started page is correct, you will be running into issues if you can get connected at all depending on your location and close by tower technologies.

Looks like it would be best to get a more compatible device

@amw3000, are you referring to this?  If so, compatible LTE bands are B2/B4/B5/B12/B17.
