Why do I need verification code each time I log in?

@Yummy  FYI: 2FA was enabled by default on all accounts during the system upgrade.

I am with you, huge pain. I think the second time I signed in I deactivated it in the settings. I would recommend that to save a ton of time!

It's a security feature, although sometimes annoying, i do like to keep it active to ensure my account is secured. The above poster's mention how to deactivate it.

@Buey   this is a security settings called 2FA (two-form authentication), and is widely used these days for added protection

 

You can in fact disabled it if you decided to do so, just login to My Account, Profile page
