Can I reverse to my previous reward system

J_S

I have been staying with PM for more than 5 years so received loyalty reward for $5/month plus automatic payments reward for $2/month plus friends referral award. I updated my plan this week but thought I must enrol in the new point system before I can update my plan as I recall it says “change subscription” instead of “change plan” so I enrolled to the new point system and then updated my plan. I thought I must do that, otherwise it wouldn’t allow me to update my plan. As a result, I will lose all my loyalty and auto payment rewards going forward and was granted one-time points as compensation.

Today I was told that existing clients can actually update their plan without enrolling into the new point system. I wonder whether my previous rewards can be reversed. I am willing to return the points that were granted to me for enrolling into the point system. Just would like to get back my original rewards. Thanks!

@J_S

if I accidentally switched that would make me want to switch providers also. however, PM did reward you with at least 60 points + 5 points bonus for the 5 years you've been with PM. the least I would do is to use those points first before switching.

phonebox would be my brand of choice. they have a similar company structure as PM and they are directly competing against them. phonebox uses the Rogers network

hi @J_S business is business

My 2% cash back credit card has come to the end just recently as no  one else is offering that

 At least for PM, they didn't force us to give up legacy rewards

Dat's bidniz. Greed and capitalism.

So losing 10-20% of loyal customers is NOT a big deal at all but actually a WIN for PM. WELL DONE PM! Keep up with your GOOD WORK!

@J_S

they likely looked at the cost vs benefit of losing some customers versus the amount they may have been paying them in loyalty rewards.

When they’re doling out $60/year in loyalty rewards for customers who have been here 5+ years, it’s not a stretch to see why they want to move folks over to public points.

They probably figure they might lose 10% -20% of the customers (and probably not even that much ), but they’ll keep 80%+ and be paying out way less in rewards.

In that respect, they likely consider it a ‘win’

It looks like PM just want to kick out all the existing customers in the legacy rewards system otherwise they would NOT have to email us over and over suggesting us to switch to the points system. However, apparently they are afraid of losing all of us so induce us to do this by ourselves with misleading wording. If we just switch without confirming first, and it’s too bad and they finally get what they want.

I agree @J_S

A company who truly values its longer standing customers would permit someone who misunderstood to switch back if (let’s say) it was requested within 24 hours or something.

Then again, a company who puts profits over customer satisfaction aligns with almost every other company in North America.

Maybe you know this but we don’t. We don’t check the community everyday. I have only logged into the community for a couple of times over past several years and this was the first time I changed my plan after staying with PM for more than 5 years. I believe that there are a lot of other customers like me who thought that we have to switch to the points system to change the plan. Yes I should have asked before switching, but it would be easy for PM if they had just indicated that legacy rewards system would NOT get affected. This is definitely misleading for some of the existing customers.

@hTideGnow @J_S

I agree with both of you.

There’s no doubt Public Mobile would love to have every customer on public points so they don’t pay out as much and they only have one reward system to deal with.

However, there’s no indication that public points is a requirement for changing plans, and every single thread on this community confirms that.

Indeed they are looking to capitalize on the segment of customers who don’t ask and just make the change. That, in itself, is a little underhanded in my view.

 But whaddya do  🤷🏻‍♂️

Hi @J_S I don't think it is misleading

the current rewards system is Public Points and of course all marketing will be around the current system.   Just like there are still grandfathered plans with different call features, but all marketing materials will refer to features for current plans

Had PM indicated existing customers can stay in their legacy reward system, I wouldn’t switch to the points system. Before this I had received multiple emails suggesting me to switch to the points system and I ignored. PM finally get what they want this time but may lose one loyal customer.

This is very misleading.

Please see below. It looks like we have to be in the point system in order to change to the BF plan.

Oh. Wish PM have indicated this clearly, rather than inducing us to switch to the new point system. Would think about switching to another carrier. Thanks anyway.

I get so angry (with Public Mobile, not with customers like you) when people choose to do this.

PM makes it 'seem' that folks must or should switch to Public Points when changing plans.  While they don't explicitly state that, it seems inferred for some who have also made the same choice.

Sorry you didn't ask first, then proceed with the plan change.

There is NO WAY to revert back, regrettably.

Can I ask - what part of the change plan process made you think you had to switch over @J_S ?

If YOU switch to Points - it is irreversible.

If you switch plans your rewards stay as is as they are tied up with your Account, not plan.
Reading your post again I see you DID switch to Points thus you lost $5/30 days credit 😞

@J_S  No sorry once you opt into the new points system it’s a one way street and no going back to old $ rewards 😞

If only you had asked here for clarification first. No, switching to points is irreversible. Mistakenly, misunderstandingly, inadvertently - not going to happen.

Hello @J_S

Customers who join after Jan 25, 2022 will automatically have access to Public Points. For customers who joined prior to Jan 25, 2022, you'll still be on the Legacy Rewards program. Sadly because you already switched, there is no turning back. Nobody has the ability to reverse it.

I don't believe that is reversible, unfortunately.
